Some of these impacts might appear over time and as circumstances in your life or your use of drugs changes. Below are some of the implications of drug use and this is exactly why organisations and programmes exist to support people who become addicted and who are endangering their lives
and the lives of those around them.

IMPLICATIONS

SAFETY

Substance misuse can lead to lowered inhibitions, interfere with your co-ordination and can increase your co-ordination and can increase your vulnerability.

DAMAGE TO INTERNAL ORGANS

The heavy use of some substances can damage the liver, brain, lungs, throat and stomach.

EMPLOYMENT

Long term drug and alcohol use drastically reduce your ability to work.

LEGAL IMPLICATIONS

Drug use can lead to a criminal conviction which will have serious implications on your ability to travel to different countries and secure employment.

YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

Substance misuse can destroy homes, tear families apart and you could lose close friends.

SCHOOL / COLLEGE

You might not immediately notice the impact that your lifestyle is having on your body

VIOLENCE

Some drugs like amphetamines can increase the likelihood of making you act in a violent way.

FINANCIAL PRESSURES

There can be pressures to gain access to money to feed your habit which can lead to theft from family, and can also spiral into crime.

THE SIMPLE MESSAGE

We use this video on all of our Drugs & Alcohol workshops and it has a huge impact on every single young person who watches it.
